There’s nothing like a deep hate for the advertising business to nourish a love of flipping burgers. That’s the story of Harry Hawk, co-founder of the NYC Food Film Festival. Hawk left the exec world for the grill several years ago, then in 2007 he and George Motz created the week-long food-and-film happening in which festival-goers screen movies about food and indulge in the featured delicacies. Opening night features a pair of short films by Joe York—Mutton: The Movie and Buttermilk: It Can Help—accompanied by barbecue mutton and a buttermilk tasting.
