Akitsa+Bone Awl+Ashdautus

by

With a Quèbècois headliner and a triumvirate of California groups, tonight’s bill boasts some of North America’s most ingenious black-metal bands in the extreme underground. The usually one-man Akitsa has been making noisy, experimental ditties (screamed en Francais, not that you’d notice) for a decade now, and their bad vibrations perfectly complement the Californians. The beach bands’ chief draw is the Bay Area’s Bone Awl, who seamlessly mix clanging black metal with Oi!-punk abandon. Long Beach’s Ashdautas, whose guitarist Volahn is opening the show, solo, play grating metal as if Neil Young had invented it. Just add misanthropy.
