WAKE-UP CALL

by

New York Classical Theatre has figured out how to keep audiences awake during a Shakespeare play: running. For this production of King Lear, director Stephen Burdman actually directs the audience around the park from one scene to the next. Every 15 to 20 minutes, Lear and his three daughters grapple over the kingdom about 50 feet from where you last saw them. See how the family carnage plays out upon the lovely lawns of Battery Park, which should be strewn with bodies by the end of the play.
