High Line Park Results in New Restaurant Row; Green Roofs Everywhere


Mere months after reports claiming the exact opposite, a new study suggests that living near a fast food outlet actually does not increase weight in children, and that living near supermarkets, with their fresh fruits and vegetables, does nothing to lower weight. Go figure.

A survey of airline food reveals that US-based airlines offer the worst meals. American Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways scored lowest, while Continental was ranked as serving some of the best meals, behind Singapore Airlines and British Airways.

A survey by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities found that the number of rooftop garden projects grew by more than 35 percent last year. One such project is the roof at P.S. 6 on the Upper East Side, where vegetables and herbs will be planted next spring for the cafeteria.

The High Line Park can boast its own Restaurant Row. Until the park opened last week, there was no continuity linking the restaurants that run alongside it. Now, establishments along Washington Street and 10th Avenue, like Craftsteak, the John Dory, and Morimoto, share a common ground.
