‘Istanbulive: The Sounds & Colors of Turkey’

by

This four-hour variety pack should introduce New Yorkers to the relatively unknown sound of modern Turkey in both its older and newer incarnations. The popular folk-rock group Mazhar Fuat Özkan has been blending Western sounds with traditional Turkish music for three decades. Painted On Water, featuring singer Sertab Erener and Turkish rock star Demir Demirkan, is a sophisticated fusion project bolstered by Allman Brothers bassist Oteil Burbridge. Hüsnü; Senlendirici and Vassilis Saleas are two of Turkey’s more prominent prog-folk clarinetists. With Emre Yilmaz & Brooklyn Funk Essentials.
