(Frantisek Vlacil, 1967).
Frantisek Vlacil’s atmospheric, symbol-charged medieval epic—a wide-screen black-and-white feast for the eyes—has been compared to Akira Kurosawa and Sergio Leone, as well as Tarkovsky’s near-contemporaneous Andrei Rublev.
