Like many jazzsters, the former Dream Syndicate honcho makes more of a living overseas. In the last few years, he’s headed an interesting roots/noise combo called Hazel Motes, but now he returns to his history, covering DS’s now out-of-print Medicine Show. While a more sedate affair than the classic DS debut Days of Wine and Roses, it still has a nice lyrical lilt to it. Live, Wynn and his band are capable of mind-blowing, drone-powered rave-ups, which will probably be unleashed just at the right moments. With Paramount Styles and Doug Gillard Electric.
