The police have suspects in the shooting of two men in Brooklyn last Sunday. Detectives have been showing mug shots of two men around the neighborhood in an effort to find them, residents said. The police may also have video of the shooting, from one of several video cameras stationed around the building.
The two victims were sitting in a Cadillac Escalade outside of 330 Hinsdale St in Brooklyn, when one of their attackers got out of another car and opened fire. Paramedics took them to Brookdale Hospital, where one of the victims, Daud Abdul-Hakim, 28, was declared dead. The second shooting victim was listed in stable condition.
One of Abdul-Hakim’s friends sent us an anonymous email last night describing him as a “family-oriented, hard-working man.”
The author of the email said that Abdul-Hakim had left a family party on Sunday to take a drive. As they got into the car, a man approached and stood at the corner staring at the victim and his friend, as they got into the car. He then, our emailer says, began firing into the car and then fled in another car.
“It all happened so fast,” the emailer says. “Why did it happen? Who knows! But Daud didn’t deserve it.”
The author added, “All of these innocent victims get caught up in mistaken identities and have to suffer and as you can see it costs their lives. They die alone unnoticed. No one ever knows their story. It never makes the front page of the news paper. Hopefully Daud’s good legacy will live on.”
