What’s Happening This Week–Pairing Wine with Stevie & A Dessert Tour

As many of you know, our weekly dining and drinking newsletter features all the coolest epicurean events in the city.

Stevie Wonder Pairing: Songs for the cup of life
City Winery
June 24, 7 pm

If you’re like us, then you like your love songs paired with a good glass of wine. City Winery, which has made a name for itself with its wine-and-song pairings, is putting together 30 classic Stevie Wonder tunes with 30 different corresponding wines. Tasting notes will reveal why a particular wine might go with a particular song, but you’re welcome to listen, taste, and think for yourself.

Rush Hour Benefit for Hunger
Grand Central Terminal
June 24, 5-8 pm

St. John’s Bread for Life, which feeds thousands of hungry New Yorkers each week, invites you to sip cocktails and nibble on bites from The Balvenie, Sullivan St. Bakery, Ciao Bella Gelato, and Zespri as you bid on a silent auction. The event will take place at Grand Central’s Northeast Balcony and, because it has been underwritten, all proceeds will go to feeding the hungry. Tickets range from $100 to $500.

Free NYC Dessert Fest
156 Chambers Street
June 28, 11 am

Want to give your sweet tooth a heart attack? New York City Sightseeing will host a free walking tour of Lower Manhattan’s best dessert spots. (Note that the desserts themselves aren’t free.) A $5 donation is suggested, proceeds from which will go to local food banks. The tour lasts 1 1/2 hours and will feature pastries, cakes, ice cream and more.
