If you’re missing basketball, give the WNBA a try. The New York Liberty is one of the league’s original eight teams, and though they’ve never won a championship, they’ve made it to the finals four times. Although they had the youngest average age of any WNBA team in 2008, they were a respectable 19-15 and beefed up the club with some key acquisitions. They also added some local flavor by signing star center Kia Vaughn from Rutgers in the 2009 draft. The Los Angeles Sparks are struggling in their conference, but their stingy defense will be a challenge for the Liberty’s high scorers (Shameka Christon scored 20 points in a recent overtime loss to the Indiana Fever.)
