To say that this Philly band has straightened out a little may not mean much, considering where they started. A bizarre mix of Tom Waits, Frank Zappa, and carnival music, they could have easily come off as a highbrow joke but, instead, they sound committed to their crazed muse. Even if their music is a little too freaky for you, there’s still their visuals to admire—along with assorted percussion and horns, they juggle instruments between themselves. They’re a little more married to trad song form now, but, they’re in no danger of ‘selling out’ or going mainstream.
