—All Tomorrow’s Parties, which happens in Monticello, NY September 11-13, has added a few more acts to their lineup, including Sufjan Stevens, Boris, Oneida, and Crystal Castles. Add that to the already-stacked lineup of that includes Flaming Lips, Animal Collective, Panda Bear, and Deerhunter, and the show is starting to look pretty unreal.
–Regina Spektor sold out the Beacon Theatre last month, but she’s fan-friendly enough to still play a bookstore. The NY singer will play Barnes & Noble’s Union Square-based “Upstairs in the Square” series Tuesday, August 18. The event will feature a performance followed by an interview with Spektor by host Katherine Lanpher and writer Kurt Anderson. Best part: it’s free. For something a little less intimate, Spektor is on tour all summer.
–The last dregs of a long week of mostly depressing Michael Jackson news: Jackson reportedly took 10 Xanax pills a night, according to a 2004 report obtained by CNN. The report stems an interview between bodyguards and authorities regarding the singer’s child molestation charges. One guard said Jackson sometimes consumed 30 to 40 Xanax pills a night to deal with insomnia, which takes some serious tolerance. Also, investigators are awaiting the results of a toxicology report before determining whether he died of an accidental overdose or homicide. Here’s Jackson in happier times: rocking out to a remix of R. Kelly’s “Ignition” with X-Men-director Brett Ratner in the backseat of a car.
