Last spring, when the cult-like Independence Party bestowed its nomination on Mayor Bloomberg for his third term run, party leader Jackie Salit told reporters with a grin that the billionaire pol had assured them that “ample resources will be brought to bear.”
She was right. Campaign filings for the party’s New York County branch filed this week show that the first Bloomy bucks to support its efforts rolled in on May 15 when Bloomberg wrote a personal check to the party for $250,000.
Bloomberg wasn’t quite as generous to the Queens GOP, donating $50,000 on April 27 to its housekeeping account.
