The only way to fully comprehend the egocentric, mega pop star that is Kanye West is to break him down song by song—through interpretive dance, of course. The creators of Our Hit Parade, along with the dance crew Catch, have taken it upon themselves to explain the 12-track album from West’s latest release, 808s & Heartbreak in Why Won’t You Let Me Be Great!!! But is this feat even plausible? Well, Our Hit Parade conceivers Brendan Kennedy and Neal Medlyn have masterly covered other pop wonders by Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, and a slew of others. This evening-length performance is sort of in the vein of Joffrey Ballet’s (in)famous Billboards that choreographed the songs of Prince. We can’t wait to see how the downtown dancers incorporate West’s “RoboCop” in the show.
