The kissy devil tomato on the bag of this Indian snack, found in a Patel Brothers, is a wee bit terrifying. But the Naughty Tomato snacks inside, which look like bright red Cheetos, are delicious and crunchy, with a robust spicy tomato flavor that hits sweet, spicy, and sour notes. (File under: Other countries have better snack flavors than us.) Kurkure is the Hindi word for “crunchy” (fun with onomatopoeia), and these snacks are also available in Masala Munch (!) and Desi Beats (!!) flavors, among others.
The bag suggests that you can make a Naughty Tomato chaat, by tossing the snacks with chutneys and a sprinkle of chaat masala–or, you could crush them up and use as a coating for fried chicken.
