The best part of doing a book is getting all dolled up and photographed for the cover. And so, just the other day I went to photographer David Rodgers‘s studio, where I was de-mummified and pro-glammed for my great big promotional shooting (in Chelsea, of course.)
The book, due next February from Alyson, is a collection (with some new material) called Fork on the Left, Knife in the Back, so I had to assume just the right sense of airy hauteur for the cover shoot. But while the fork and knife action will probably be digitized in later, I had to use all my finest method acting skills to try not to look like I’d just had a spoon up my nose. Because I hadn’t! The only coke I do is in a can!
Anyway, why not make this even more meta and take a photo of the photo of me being photographed? Let’s do it for Andy Warhol.
