Sotomayor Goes to the Supreme Court

Despite some desperate last-minute calls, the Senate cleared Sonia Sotomayor’s last obstacle, approving her for the Supreme Court 68-31. Nine Republicans joined all the Democrats in voting for her (the conservative American Spectator lists them, presumably with dishonor). “I wish President Obama had chosen a Hispanic nominee whom all senators could support,” said Orrin Hatch. (Like who? George Lopez?) She’ll be the 111th Supreme Court Justice, the third female and the first Hispanic.
