David Byrne is saying goodbye to his trusty folding Montague bicycle. The bike will forever be memorialized as the means of transportation in Byrne’s eponymous Bicycle Diaries, a collection of essays which will be released on Viking next month. (Mostly, from what we’ve read of it, anyway, the writing is in the style of, if not in fact drawn from, Byrne’s excellent blog.) By way of promoting the book, and benefiting the London Cycling Campaign, Byrne will be auctioning off the bike on eBay. After 50 bids, the price stands at 1,020 pounds. You have four more days to bid.
