Cooling Centers Open


As summer, after a long delay, has hit New York (a high of 92 is predicted today), the city has opened cooling centers where citizens without recourse to A/C may take some ease. The cooling centers, many of which are located in senior centers, are normally activated during Excessive Heat Emergencies (EHEs), which we suppose this is; there is some concern with ground-level ozone, which is created by the combination of air pollution and extreme heat. The centers will be open tomorrow, too.
