Flashback: Venn Diagrams are two circles containing information, which intersect to display the information they both have in common. Cabaret meets this elementary school exercise as downtown musical duo The Venn Diagrams exhibit the commonalities and the contrasts in everything from 20th-century French and German songs to musical theater and modern-day pop. Jeffrey Marsh and Rick Sorkin describe themselves as “Sonny & Cher meets Kurt Weill meets Rufus Wainwright,” but their reach goes beyond even that: Expect a song tribute to Bea Arthur, as well as a preview of a musical they are writing with tonight’s co-headliner Clay McLeod Chapman about vaudevillian female impersonator Julian Eltinge.
