Several City Beaches Closed for Hurricane Bill

Hurricane Bill is at this writing hundreds of miles off the coast of Florida, but it’s still strong enough to whip up surfs in our area. So the Department of Parks and Recreation has closed Rockaway Beach, Coney Island Beach, nearby Manhattan Beach, and Staten Island’s South Beach, Midland Beach, and Wolfe’s Pond Beach, and warns that Orchard Beach in The Bronx may be closed if conditions deteriorate. If you’re going to the Hamptons this weekend, watch out there, too.
