Dir. Claude Chabrol (2007).
Chabrol’s uneven psychological drama concerns a bourgeois family—his usual territory. Isabelle Huppert stars as the owner of a large Swiss chocolate company, married to a celebrated pianist. The plot thickens considerably as the director piles on a bit of moody suspense a la Hitchcock. It’s well-acted by a fine cast, but the payoff climax is far from satisfying.
