Finally, A Way for Dirty Chefs to Get Clean


Touting itself (inaccurately) as “the first U.S. chef’s soap,” Marie’s Chef’s Soap officially launched yesterday with a promise to “remove foods, odors, oils, and saps from the hands,” and a guarantee that “it contains no fragrances, synthetics, or animal ingredients so that when you wash your hands you’re not getting those things on your hands before cooking.” Of course, chef’s soap has been used in France for centuries, but since the largest exporter of the stuff retired, it has been harder to find in the U.S. Enter Marie’s: It may not be the only chef’s soap available, but it certainly will fill a (dirty) gap.
