Frank Portman of Berkeley’s long-running Mr. T Experience headlines the Read-n-Rock-n-Roll Ya Variety Show, a night of music and words in support of Andromeda Klein, the just-released follow-up to his hit 2006 novel King Dork, which non-readers will soon get the opportunity to enjoy when director Seth Gordon (Four Christmases, The King of Kong) brings it to movie screens in 2011. Andromeda may well find a similar fate, given that Portman describes it as “a portrait of a teenage occultist.” (Those Harry Potter and Twilight films won’t last forever, you know.) Also on the bill: nerd-rap heavyweight MC Chris, Harper’s editor Paul Ford, Mr. Dream, Julie Klausner, Bennett Madison, and Natalie Standiford.
