It’s been fairly silent on the Yura Yura Teikoku front since May 2007, when Mesh-Key re-released Sweet Spot stateside, but the stalwart Tokyo psychedelics are making their presence felt again . . . in Burlington, Vermont, of all places. They’ll open for Yo La Tengo there, and also Boston, before their somewhat more logical Music Hall of Billyburg gig. And while our hall should be terrific confines for their aggro electro tweaking (think the Boredoms, minus the exhausted, watered-down Boardrum schtick of late), it seems almost worth the coastal drive north to see singer Sakamoto Shintaro—a man who used to shave his eyebrows off and part his long hair to resemble a traditional Japanese ghost—rock staid Vermont like it’s going out of style. We heart New York, but just sayin’. With Jessica 6.
