Listen: “Oceans Pray,” by Transformation Surprise (Mary Pearson from High Places)

It’s maybe not the first thing you think of when you think about High Places, but the duo’s Mary Pearson has one of the best voices around–clear, conversational, sad, but not quite fragile. “Oceans Pray,” a song from her solo project, Transformation Surprise, is more muted than High Places (and other TS songs are more minimal still): less sun, less extroverted, more self-conscious, but still, well, lovely. We have a guess as to who is doing the seemingly non-Pearson vocals at the beginning of this song, but we’ll keep that to ourselves. [h/t The Fader]
