It Behooves Us To Acknowledge Somehow That Bruce Springsteen Turned 60 Today

So let’s enjoy this clip of the Boss onstage in 1984, in the prime of his headband-and-beat-up-jean-jacket era, singing “Fire,” a lovely distillation of lust, menace, and succulent creamed corn, here punctuated by a full 60-second pause wherein Bruce and Clarence Clemons enact some sort of bizarre vaudeville pantomime that drives the hooting ladies crazy and serves to make Bruce seem even cooler/goofier. I don’t quite understand it, but it seems very meaningful. In any event: This is our country. So happy birthday. (Thanks to friend-of-SOTC Mike Powell.)
