At least no one at SOTC wrote the headline someone did over at our sister blog.
–There’s a new Michael Jackson song on the way. Sony will release “This Is It” next month as part of a double-disc set of the same name. This Is It will also include, according to the Times, a spoken-word poem by Mr. Jackson called “Planet Earth.” Alright then! This won’t be sad at all. The record comes out October 27th, a day before the MJ rehearsal footage doc Michael Jackson: This Is It hits theaters.
–New Jersey frog-pop melodicists Real Estate will release their self-titled debut on Woodsist on November 17, reports Pitchfork. The cover reminds us of the cloud city of Bespin, not that we’re admitting that we know what that is. We will admit to thinking an awful lot of the newest Real Estate song, “Beach Comber,” to make the internet rounds–check that one out here.
–Oh and punk role model and all around great guy Ted Leo has a new home after he loyally rode first Lookout! and then Touch & Go into the ground. It’s Matador, of course–one of the few indies still remaining with the size and savvy to carry a guy who could’ve jumped to a major a long time ago.
