“Interpol can sleep tonight,” says a British man who was hosting two Italian exchange students who were arrested and detained for squeezing muffins.
The 17-year-olds were visiting Exeter when they stopped into a Tesco supermarket and allegedly squeezed three muffin tops before settling on the one to buy. The teens were hauled down to the basement, where they were given the name and number of a London lawyer and advised that they would need legal help. Finally, the girls’ teacher was contacted, and Tesco decided not to press charges.
