Open & Closed: Say Hello to Robataya NY, Bierkraft


From the folks behind Sakagura and Curry-ya comes Robataya NY, an East Village robata grill and izakaya. Sake, shochu, and beer will be served upon liquor board approval.

New York institution San Domenico has relocated and reopened under the new moniker SD26. The new space overlooks Madison Square Park and is cheffed by Odette Fada.

Smith Street Thai, Ghang, has a new location on Court Street in the space formerly occupied by Miriam. Unlike the original location, the new one is not BYOB.

The first Midtown location of the falafel chain Maoz has opened in the old Sahara Grill space. The menu features whole or half falafels with self-serve toppings from the salad bar.

Mercat has opened Brooklyn outpost, Mercat Negre, focusing on food from Catalan (where chef-partner, Oriol Sala Colomer, is from). Expect empanadas, croquettes, and rice dishes.

Bierkraft, the beer and fancy food emporium by Richard Scholz located in Park Slope, is now open. In addition to bottles, 64-ounce growlers are available.
