We’re getting to the end of the blueberry season at local farmers markets. I bought these beauties yesterday at Union Square, where they run $4 or $5 per pint. Late-season blueberries tend to be a little more tart and a little more rich tasting than their earlier counterparts, and thus go particularly well in cobblers, pies, or turnovers. Don’t worry about the dusky white blush on the blueberries: it’s a protective mechanism on the part of the fruit, and serves as a sign to the consumer that the berries are fresh.
