Sufjan Stevens has two new releases hitting stores this month: a lavish multimedia package built around his 2007 orchestral piece, The BQE, and Run Rabbit Run, a string-quartet version of his 2001 album Enjoy Your Rabbit by the band Osso. According to Stevens’s label Asthmatic Kitty, this show—the first of four gigs around New York that conclude a brief tour of relatively small East Coast venues—is unrelated to either title. So what will the night include? Maybe some of 2004’s churchy Seven Swans, which the indie-pop idol played last month from beginning to end at All Tomorrow’s Parties; maybe stuff from a new studio album, which seems a little overdue when you consider that Illinois came out way back in 2005. Whatever Stevens does, expect somebody to swoon. With California’s quirky Cryptacize.
