Fugitive Robbery Suspect is Arrested

You’ll be pleased to hear that robbery suspect who escaped Wednesday from a Manhattan courtroom has been arrested. Detectives noticed Ronald Tackman getting off a bus at 175th Street and Amsterdam Avenue around 9 last night and nabbed him. Police dog searches of the vicinity of the court right after Tackman’s escape picked up his scent, but the trail turned cold; it’s unknown whether the detectives were just trawling or were tipped off. Two officers who had been overseeing Tackman have been “reassigned,” and new corrections commissioner Dora Schriro has called for a “top to bottom” review of the system.
