The police say they have made an arrest in the murder of 13-year-old Kevin Miller, who was shot fatally at a car wash Friday afternoon. The suspect is Nnonso Ekwegbalu, 16, of 183rd Street in Queens. A second teen was shot in the thigh.
Miller was struck once in the head. He was declared dead at Long Island Jewish Hospital.
The New York Daily News reported that Miller and a friend came across a fight near the Campus Magnet High School at the above intersection. Miller was an innocent bystander, his family told the News. He was an usher at his church and had good grades.
Mayor Bloomberg rarely weighs in on specific crimes, but he did in this case, calling for stricter gun laws. “I don’t know when we’re going to say enough is enough,” he told reporters. “Here’s another young kid with a gun and an innocent 13-year-old is dead. I mean, what kind of society do we have?”
