The problem of evil is unusually knotty in Tim Blake Nelson’s play in which bad things happen to good people. Frequently. Nelson has long been drawn to dark subjects (the Holocaust, jailhouse cruelty) and this play—which concerns an abusive marriage, a traumatized teen boy, and a murder—proves no exception.
