There has been something kaleidoscopic about the bassist’s tunes and the bands that play them. Motifs and melodies often came and went with regularity, giving things a wonderfully choppy feel. The new Think Free changes that, making hay with more thorough themes, and generating a newfound glide. Maybe it’s the unique nature of the violin, guitar, and trumpet blend. Maybe it’s the aura of dreaminess. Regardless, expect an inherent breeziness to mark much of this runs interplay.
