This Brooklyn Vegan CMJ showcase is full of the English and the twee: On their new Reservoir, London-based Fanfarlo sound like a kiddie-core version of the Arcade Fire, with lots of strings and wind instruments detailing frontman Simon Balthazar’s typically overheated tales of comets and ghosts and the like. Laura Marling, from Hampshire, sings about ghosts, too, in pretty folk tunes that can recall Blue-era Joni Mitchell. With the Walter Schreifels Band, the Antlers, and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Wheel.
