CT invades the LES! The guitarist and bassist cross interstate lines for a double bill that will prove just how lyrical leftie jazz can be. Morris new Life On Earth is an inviting swirl of six-string spiderwebs and alto sax squiggles, nü-bop at its most mercurial. Pavone’s Arc outfit places Tony Malaby and Dave Ballou up front, and their tenor/trumpet cross-hatch can be both dense and determined. But expect some fluttering as well—the rhythm section usually brings a mariposa vibe to the bandstand. Series curator Dee Pop opens with a strings ‘n’ drums set featuring Tom Chess.
