A company in Texas is manufacturing coasters that can detect whether or not drinks have been spiked with GHB and ketamine, which are more commonly known as date rape drugs. The coasters, which are made by Drink Safe Texas, cost about 40 cents apiece and feature pink and green dots that, like a pregnancy test, turn blue when exposed to liquid containing the drugs. “The wide-spread use of our Drink Safe products,” the company’s website says, “should discourage all but the most brazen from even trying to spike drinks. Those few that remain will hopefully be caught and sent away for a long time.”
They’ve already helped send one would-be rapist away: Last week, a Dallas cop was caught trying to spike the drinks of two women. New York bar owners, take note.
