70YO lobster saved from starring in $275 dinner

Concerned patrons of a Rockefeller Center restaurant have negotiated a reprieve for Peter, an 11-pound, 70 year old lobster the restaurant was offering as a high-priced meal.

Peter, as he’s known by the staff of Oceana, was intended for customers who’ve been asking for something larger than the five pound lobsters they currently sell. Executive chef Ben Pollinger, who feels “persecuted,” says he’s confused by the “emotional” reaction.

Peter’s ultimate fate isn’t known yet, but it’s not going to involve drawn butter.
