Hardcore CMJ attendees should be advised that the inclination to never ever see live music again will dissipate after a week or two. For those who aren’t burnt out entirely, La Roux offers pretty fantastic synth-pop at the Highline Ballroom; singer Eleanor Jackson (that’s her on the left) would make an excellent last-minute Halloween costume, if you’ve got enough hair to really fuck with. Elsewhere, recently reunited hardcore-ish dudes Far are playing Mercury Lounge, while CMJ luminaries Small Black and Surfer Blood (they’ve been busy) hit Death by Audio with Parts & Labor, who’re OK, though it’s all been downhill since that Twitter dude left. For CMJ burnouts, stick with Monday Night Football.
