Drooling in Anticipation Over Purple Yam

Purple Yam may not be open for another week, but its owners certainly know how to whet the public’s appetite. The restaurant’s website pictures some of the Pan-Asian dishes that will be featured on the menu, such as tamarind shrimp with caramelized onions and toasted mustard seeds, Balinese duck leg, and, somewhat unexpectedly, a mushroom and leek quiche that will be served during brunch. If the photos, which also include several Korean dishes made by one of the restaurant’s cooks, are anything to go by, Amy and Romy Besa’s restaurant will be one of the more intriguing to open this year, broadening many people’s concept of both Filipino and Asian cuisine and providing yet another reason to get on the Q train.
