Whole Foods shares recently fell 8.6 percent after more than tripling over the past year. CEO John Mackey said he expects no “positive change in the economy over the short term,” adding that 2010 sales should improve slightly.

Kraft is expected to make its hostile takeover offer on British confectioner Cadbury by end of day today, after more than two months of posturing. The deadline was imposed by Britain’s Takeover Panel and, if missed, would bar Kraft from making another bid for six months.
