First he got jail, now he has bail: former top cop Bernie Kerik, who during his recent trial was briefly jailed when the judge found him untrustworthy, and who pleaded guilty to fraud charges last week, is free on $1.4 million bail until his sentencing on February 18.
It’s not as nice as it sounds. Kerik will be under home confinement, and electronically monitored to make sure he complies. He will only be able to leave his house to confer with lawyers or for medical or religious reasons.
Kerik is expected to get 27 to 33 months when sentenced.
