East Side Social Club is opening its doors tonight in the space previously occupied by Montparnasse in The Pod Hotel. Owner Billy Gilroy, of Employees Only and Macao Trading Co., has teamed up with his brother Jim, his son Devon, and his daughter Grace, as well as Macao partner Patrick Fahey, for this Midtown version of a downtown-scene-y resto-lounge. Dinner service kicks off tonight, with the late-night menu starting next Monday, and breakfast, lunch, and brunch coming in December.
Devon, formerly of Chanterelle and A Voce, is behind the Italian-American menu and Dushan Zaric devised the house cocktail list. The venture is a real family affair: Grace, who worked at La Bottega and Bowery Bar, is the general manager; Jim is the maitre’ d; and Grace’s mother, Mary Miscikoski, a former vintage clothing store owner, sourced pieces for the staff’s outfits.
