Salon Debuts Its Food Section


Gourmet‘s excellent website may be suspended in purgatory, but one of its erstwhile staffers has moved on to try to fill the void: Earlier today, former Gourmet contributing editor Francis Lam published the first post on’s new food website, called, appropriately, Salon Food. Promising “stories for foodies, home ec rejects and everyone in between,” the site, Lam writes, will “examine the bigger questions of what food does, of what food is…We’ll tell the stories behind the food, stories about cooks and eaters, about what happens between people at the table.” Welcome to the kitchen, guys.
