North Carolina’s Bowerbirds are the type of band that gives indie rock a good name: pretty but not boring, folky but not goofy, vulnerable but not twee, catchy but not cloying, ramshackle but not art-fucky, accordion-y but not precious. At best, they’ll write a song (“Northern Lights”) that that will be in your head all day; at worst, they will not piss you off. With Sharon Van Etten.
