I, Locavore: Hot Italian Frying Peppers

by

Speaking of hot green peppers, Central Valley Farm, which offers eggs, ground beef, and other good stuff at the Monday Union Square Farmer’s Market, is now selling large jars of its own hot Italian frying peppers. The green peppers go all silky in the olive oil, and taste sweet but have a spicy kick that sneaks up on you and warms your lips long after you’ve finished eating them.

A quart jar is $12, but would last probably last you several winter months, when fresh peppers are just a summer memory. They’d be good in an omelet, a stew, or just eaten straight out of the jar.
