Alex Urena, who opened two restaurants, both of which have now closed — Urena and Pamplona — is relocating to Philadelphia, where he will be the chef de cuisine at the soon-to-open small plates spot R2L.
Todd English will design a European-style food hall in the lower level of the Plaza Hotel next spring. The space will feature wood-grilled pizzas, burgers and rotisserie foods, seafood and sushi, Asian-style noodles and soups, a wine bar, and coffee bar.
Joe Dobias of JoeDoe talked expansion: “I want to have a diverse portfolio to make money as opposed to having multiple restaurants of the same quality and same nature, like Union Square Hospitality Group. We’ve been talking about doing a sandwich shop recently.”
