Terrible. The British-born Solange Raulston, 33, performed as DJ Reverend Soul. (Her party: Soul Survivors. It was at Rose Live Music and the Williamsburg club Bembe.) She was killed riding her bike Sunday, when she was sideswiped by a truck on Nassau Ave. Her thing was ’60s and ’70s funk and soul. “If you came to her requesting something else, she would tell you to move,” said a friend. “All she wanted to play was that or the Ray Charles Christmas album. That was her favorite.” Perhaps tragedies like this are the reason people are so upset about the bike lanes the city seems to be determined to remove from North Brooklyn. [New York Post]
Update: Remember Raulston tonight at Rose Live Music.
